A pair of former Racers reach 1,000-point mark
MBB: DJ Burns and Chico Carter each reached the milestone on Friday
A pair of former Murray State Racers reached the 1,000-point milestone on Friday night. DJ Burns, who now plays for Youngstown State, and Chico Carter, who plays at DePaul, each joined the 1,000 point club.
Burns scored 12 points last night in Youngstown State’s home win over Wright State. That gave Burns 1,008 points for his career. He racked up 475 of those points during his two seasons at Murray State from 2021-23.
Burns is averaging 11.2 points and 8.6 rebounds, both career-bests, this season for Youngstown State.
Chico Carter Jr. went over the 1,000-point mark last night in DePaul’s loss to Villanova. Carter spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Murray State from 2019-21, where he scored a total of 467 points. Carter averaged a career-best 12.7 points during the 2020-21 season. After two seasons at South Carolina, Carter is wrapping up his career this year at DePaul.
Carter is averaging 12.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists, all career-highs, this season for DePaul.
