Abdelgowad chooses UMass
MBB: The 6'10 forward played in 19 games for the Racers last season
After entering the transfer portal back in March, former Murray State forward Malek Abdelgowad has announced on social media he’s signed with UMass.
After spending two seasons at South Plains Junior College, Abdelgowad transferred to Murray State before the 2023-24 season. The 6’10 forward battled a groin injury for a good chunk of the season, missing 13 games in all. In 19 games of action, Abdelgowad averaged 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Abdelgowad had a season-high eight points in games at Belmont and at home against Missouri State. He will have one year of eligibility remaining to play with the Minutemen.
