Former Murray State Racer Dwayne Paul has a new job tonight as he’s accepted the head coaching position at Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas. Paul is moving to the Class 6A school after spending the last two seasons at Hayden High School in in Emporia, Kansas.
Paul played for one season with Murray State in Billy Kennedy’s first year of 2006-07. A transfer from Birmingham Southern, Paul started eight of the 29 games he played in with the Racers, averaging 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 11 points in an overtime win at Tennessee State on January 4, 2007.
Paul earned his bachelor’s degree from Murray State in 2008 and his master’s degree from the University of Wyoming in 2011.
After starting his coaching journey in the college ranks with stops at Wyoming, Henderson State, and Emporia State, Paul made the move to high school coaching in 2018.
