Askins says she's committed to Murray State
WBB: The junior forward is the first 2025 recruit to publicly commit to the Racers
Jackson South Side High School junior forward Jaidynn Askins announced on X/Twitter Thursday morning she plans to play her college basketball at Murray State. Askins is the first player in the 2025 recruiting class to publicly announce their intentions to play for the Racers.
Living in nearby Jackson, Tennessee, Askins had previously posted she had scholarship offers from Memphis, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and Middle Tennessee. According to her X/Twitter account, Askins took an unofficial visit to Murray State on October 14, 2023, before announcing her commitment this morning.
The 6’0 forward helped lead Jackson South Side to a Tennessee Class AAA state runner-up finish as a freshman in 2022, and then was part of the program’s first-ever state championship in 2023. This season, Askins and the Hawks are 22-6, and will play Montgomery Central Friday night in the Tennessee Region 6-AAA quarterfinals.
