Brian Moore has entered the transfer portal
MBB: The junior guard averaged 8.6 points per game in two years with the Racers
Murray State junior guard Brian Moore Jr. has entered the transfer portal.
Moore played in 26 games this season for the Racers, averaging 9.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
After playing two years at Northeast Oklahoma A&M, Moore joined Head Coach Steve Prohm’s first signing class prior to the 2022-23 season. Prohm inserted Moore into the starting lineup for the final 14 games of last season. The 6’3 guard scored a Division I career-high 25 points last year in Murray State’s home win against Belmont.
Moore started this season in the starting rotation, before Prohm shuffled the lineup after Murray State’s 3-9 start. Moore initially thrived coming off the bench, scoring in double-figures in three of his first four games in a reserve role — including a season-high 20-point performance against UIC.
On February 7th, in the Racers’ loss at Belmont, Moore suffered a wrist injury that forced him to miss the next six games. He played a total of eight minutes and did not score in Murray State’s final two games against Indiana State and Missouri State.
With the departure of Moore and seniors Rob Perry, Quincy Anderson and Shawn Walker Jr., and the signing of incoming freshmen DJ Shine and Jordan McCullum, Prohm has, at the moment, two scholarships to fill for the the 2024-25 season. The transfer portal will officially open on March 18th.
I could see this coming. Brian, like most, wants to play 30-35 minutes a game and be the leader that he showed he could. Hopefully he’ll find a school where he’ll have more minutes and a great year. Best to you and thanks for your time at Murray State. Enjoyed watching you play!!
