Currie-Jelks says she'll be a Racer
WBB: The 6'2 forward spent the last two seasons at Indiana
Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, the 6’2 forward from Jackson, Tennessee, posted on Instagram that she intends to continue her college basketball career at Murray State.
Currie-Jelks was the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022-23, earning First Team All-OVC honors, as she averaged 15.2 points and grabbed 6.9 rebounds at UT Martin.
After her freshman season, Currie-Jelks transferred to Indiana, where she played a total of 19 minutes in nine games over the last two seasons, in part due to the birth of her daughter, Kay'lani, who was born last May.
Currie-Jelks was high school teammates with future Racer Jaidynn Askins. Currie-Jelks missed her senior season in 2021-22 at Jackson South Side High School as she recovered from a torn ACL, while Askins, as a freshman, helped the Hawks finish as Tennessee Class 3A state runners-up.
With the graduation of Katelyn Young and Ava Learn, Currie-Jelks will have an opportunity to fill a large interior void for the Racers. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.
