Drake's DeVries planning to stay all four years
MBB: The MVC Player of the Year scored 32 in a win at Murray State last season
As Murray State tries to work its way to the top of the Missouri Valley Conference, there will be certain hurdles they’ll need to overcome. If last year showed anything, the Drake Bulldogs are one of those hurdles. The Missouri Valley Tournament champions beat the Racers three times last season behind Valley Player of the Year Tucker DeVries.
It appears Murray State will have plenty of time to try to solve DeVries and Drake, whether the Racers like it or not.
Today, while taking to ValleyHoopsInsider.com’s Harry Schroeder, DeVries says he intends to play two more years at Drake and complete his four years of collegaite eligibility. You can watch his full comments below.
DeVries earned Missouri Valley Freshman of the Year honors in 2022, and then was named Player of the Year in March as he helped the Bulldogs get back to the NCAA Tournament.
After scoring 11 points in a win over Murray State in Des Moines, DeVries dominated the Racers in the next two meetings. He scored 32 points in a 92-68 win in Murray, and then scored 27 more in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
While Drake lost several key players off last year’s NCAA Tournament team, DeVries will still be the preseason favorite to repeat as conference Player of the Year.
Ok this the craziest statement. So if scouts come and say you’re gonna be a lottery pick in 2024 he still going to stay?
