Ellington named MVC Newcomer of Week

MBB: The junior forward had a career-high 29 points at UIC

Murray State junior forward Nick Ellington is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Ellington scored a career-high 29 points Wednesday at UIC, then followed that performance up with 17 more points Sunday against Indiana State. In the two games, Ellington shot a combined 21-for-27 (77.8%) from the field.

For the season, Ellington is averaging 11.2 points and 6.3 rebounds a game, while making 58.8% of his shots.

Ellington and the Racers will look to get back in the win column Wednesday when they travel to Peoria to take on Bradley.
