Ferguson says he's committed to Racers
MBB: The 6'6 guard started 22 games for Southern Illinois last season
AJ Ferguson, who played the last two seasons at Southern Illinois, announced on X/Twitter Friday afternoon he has committed to play his senior season at Murray State.
The 6’6 guard from Houston, Texas started his collegiate career at East Central University in Oklahoma. From there, he transferred to Southern Illinois where he played the last two seasons for the Salukis. After playing limited minutes during his sophomore year, Ferguson saw his playing time jump this past season to 26.6 minutes per game. Ferguson started 22 of the 25 games he saw action in, as he averaged 8.8 points and 5.2 rebounds for SIU. He shot 47.8% from the field, 29.8% from three-point range and 72.6% from the free throw line.
In SIU’s come-from-behind win over Murray State at the CFSB Center last season, Ferguson scored 14 points, making 3-of-4 three-pointers, while grabbing four rebounds.
With Ferguson’s commitment, Murray State now has just one scholarship left to be filled for next season. (Spoiler: It WILL be a big man — I promise.)
