Ferguson signs with Murray State
MBB: The Racers now have 12 of 13 scholarships filled for next season
Twelve down, one to go.
When AJ Ferguson officially signed to join Murray State’s basketball program today, that leaves just one scholarship left to fill to complete the Racers’ 2024-25 roster.
After playing his freshman season at East Central University in Oklahoma, Ferguson spent the last two seasons at Southern Illinois.
"We are really excited with the addition of AJ to our program," Murray State Head Coach Steve Prohm said in a statement. "He will provide a lot of versatility for us on the perimeter. We love the fact that he has had success in the Missouri Valley Conference and has familiarity with the league as well."
After playing limited minutes during his sophomore year with SIU, Ferguson saw his playing time jump this past season to 26.6 minutes per game. Ferguson started 22 of the 25 games he saw action in, as he averaged 8.8 points and 5.2 rebounds for SIU. He shot 47.8% from the field, 29.8% from three-point range and 72.6% from the free throw line.
In SIU’s come-from-behind win over Murray State at the CFSB Center last season, Ferguson scored 14 points, making 3-of-4 three-pointers, while grabbing four rebounds.
Ferguson will have one year of eligibility remaining.
