Ivan Aska has signed to play with Soles de Mexicali, one of the top clubs in Mexico’s National Professional Basketball League. He joined the team Tuesday for their first day of preseason workouts.
Soles de Mexicali is located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico — just two miles south of the border between Mexico and southern California.
This will be Aska’s 12th-professional season, but just his second on North American soil. Last season, Aska played in Uruguay where he averaged 17.8 points and 6.1 rebounds a game for Malvin Montevideo. His prior professional stops have taken him to Belgium, Greece, Puerto Rico, Israel, South Korea, France, North Macedonia and Hungary.
The 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year scored 1,218 points in his Murray State career. That’s still good for 30th on the Racers’ all-time scoring list.
