Mid Major Madness has named Murray State senior forward Ava Learn their Women’s Player of the Week for January 13-19. Learn averaged 16.5 points and 16 rebounds in wins last week over Northern Iowa and Drake.
Learn has recorded seven double-doubles this season, including in each of the last four games. During that stretch, she grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds against Valparaiso, then followed that up with a new career-high 19 boards against Northern Iowa.
So far this season, Learn is averaging 13.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. She is one of 17 players in the country to be averaging those numbers. Averaging 10+ rebounds for an entire season has only happened ten times in Murray State history. Learn is one of six players in the country this year to have at least three games with 17+ rebounds.
Learn and Murray State return to action on Friday night when they host Indiana State. The Racers enter the weekend tied with Belmont for the Missouri Valley Conference lead.
