Lindsay replaces Ellington in starting five
MBB: The junior forward will make his first for the Racers
Ahead of Murray State’s matchup with Charlotte at the Diamond Head Classic, Racer Head Coach Steve Prohm is making a change in the starting lineup for the first time this season. Prohm will replace senior forward Nick Ellington with junior forward KyeRon Lindsay in the starting five.
“I just think we need a change,” Prohm said before Monday’s game, as his Racers are hoping to end a three-game losing streak. “I thought we played really hard last night against a really good (Nebraska) team, but we just need a change up front. We’ll see if we can get a little bit of energy and little bit better production.”
Ellington has struggled in his last two games against Indiana State and Nebraska. Ellington had four points and two rebounds against the Sycamores, and then one point and five boards against the Cornhuskers. This will be the first time in his Murray State career he will come off the bench.
Lindsay hasn’t started a game since he started eight times in his freshman season two years ago at Georgia. He played well in the second half last night against Nebraska, finishing with six points and seven rebounds. Lindsay leads the Missouri Valley with 20 blocked shots this season.
So far this year, Ellington is averaging 20.1 minutes of playing time, while Lindsay is playing 17.7 minutes per game. They will still likely play the same amount of minutes tonight, but it’s simply about shuffling up the substitution pattern.
The Racers and Charlotte will get tipped off around 12:00am CST on Monday night.
