MBB: The 6'9 forward will stay in the Missouri Valley Conference
Sam Murray II, who just completed his sophomore season at Murray State, announced Wednesday on Instagram that he intends to continue his college career at Missouri State.
The 6’9 forward from Gulfport, Mississippi played in 20 games in each of his two seasons with the Racers. Murray averaged 1.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in his two years at Murray State. He had a season-high five points twice this season at Illinois State and at home against UIC. In early January, Murray had a career-high eight rebounds in back-to-back games against Evansville and UIC.
Murray will join a Missouri State team that is starting a rebuild under Head Coach Cuonzo Martin. Martin is making his return to Springfield after previously coaching there from 2008-11.
