Murray State grabs votes in Mid Major poll
WBB: Five Missouri Valley programs received votes this week
Murray State received four votes, which would be good for 49th-place overall, in the first CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Top 25 poll of the season.
Gonzaga came in at #1 this week, as the Bulldogs grabbed 27 of a possible 31 first-place votes.
The Racers return three of their top-four scorers from a year ago, led by Murray State’s all-time leading scorer Katelyn Young. They’ll open the regular season next Thursday when they host SIUE.
Murray State is one of five Missouri Valley Conference schools to see their name in this week’s poll — three of them found themselves in the Top 25. Defending champion Drake came in at #6, while Northern Iowa is #12 and Belmont is #15. Missouri State also slid into the “Others Receiving Votes” category with two votes.
