Murray State vs. Brescia preview
MBB: What you need to know before the Racers play their exhibition game
As the calendar switches to November, the long wait to finally see another basketball at Racer Arena is over for Murray State fans. Tonight, at 7:00pm, Murray State will host Brescia in their final dress rehearsal before the season officially kicks off Monday against Midway.
Here’s what you need to know before tonight’s game:
This is the first time Murray State has played a game, albeit an exhibition, at Racer Arena since 1998
Game time is set for 7:00pm, but doors open at 5:30pm
Lots of game day information, including where to park, can be found at this link
While there will be concessions available, every purchase in Racer Arena is CASH ONLY!
If you plan to try to buy a ticket at the door, they can also only purchased with CASH ONLY!
If you can’t make it to the game, you can listen to myself and Kenny Roth on the radio on Froggy 103.7, or on GoRacers.com.
The game will also be broadcast on ESPN+. Todd Hamilton and Rob Cross will be on the call there.
While you can expect Steve Prohm to mix and match lots of lineup combinations tonight, you will see him play predominantly four-guard lineups. With the depth the Racers have in the backcourt, they will try to use that to their advantage. You’ll also see Nick Ellington, Malek Abdelgowad and Sam Murray rotating in at the 5-spot throughout the game. Murray State gave up 21 offensive rebounds in their scrimmage Saturday against Jacksonville State. Brescia has five guys who are 6’8 or taller — including one 7-footer — so the Racers will have to make crashing the defensive glass a priority tonight.
For Brescia, this is also their first exhibition game. They will play exhibitions, as well, against Jacksonville State and UT Martin in the next two weeks. The Bearcats only return five players who saw playing time last season. Murray State beat Brescia, 102-57, in their exhibition last year.
I’ll have a “Ride Home” podcast posted later tonight after the game.
Go Racers!
