Poock named MVC Player of the Week
WBB: The sophomore guard scored 30 points against Austin Peay
After helping Murray State to a pair of wins last week, sophomore guard Halli Poock is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.
Poock scored 13 points against Saint Louis on Tuesday, then followed that up with 30 points and eight assists in the Racers’ win over Austin Peay on Saturday.
Since the 2002-03 season, here is the list of players that have put up a stat line of at least 29 points, six three-pointers, six assists, and played 26 minutes or fewer in a game:
Poock has not only put up those numbers twice, but she’s put them up twice in the last two weeks.
The sophomore from Waterloo, Iowa is second on the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game. She is shooting 44.7% from the field and 38.3% from the three-point line. After starting the season 3-for-23 (13.0%) from beyond the arc, Poock has made 15-of-24 (62.5%) three-pointers in the last three games.
The Racers have won their last four games to improve to 5-2 on the season. Their next road test is Sunday at #19 Alabama.
