Racers move up in Mid-Major Top 25 poll

WBB: Murray State will go for their seventh-straight win Saturday at Belmont

After extending their winning streak to six games, Murray State moved up one spot to #22 in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. After wins over Indiana State and Evansville last week, the Racers are off to a 14-4 start which is tied for the best record in program history through 18 games.

South Dakota State remains #1 in the poll, with 29 out of a possible 31 first-place votes. Harvard, at #2, picked up the other two votes.

Belmont (#21), Murray State (#22) and Missouri State (#23) are the three Missouri Valley Conference teams ranked in the Top 25 this week. Belmont will host Murray State Saturday in Nashville. Northern Iowa and Drake are both in the ‘Others Receiving Votes’ category.

Both Murray State and Belmont are battling for at-large consideration to the NCAA Tournament. The Racers are #50 in the latest NCAA NET ranking, while the Bruins are #56. Both teams are getting a big opportunity this weekend to pick up a quality win to enhance their postseason resume. They’ll play at 4:00pm Saturday at the Curb Center in Nashville.
