Racers playing in Diamond Head Classic
MBB: The eight-team tournament will be played Christmas week in Hawai'i
Jon Rothstein is reporting Murray State will be taking part in the Diamond Head Classic this season. The eight-team multi-team event will take place in Honolulu, Hawai’i on December 22nd, 23rd and 25th.
The other teams reportedly in the event include: Nebraska, Oregon State, Loyola Chicago, Charleston, Hawai’i, Oakland and Charlotte.
Tournament organizers are expected to officially announce the field and the brackets for the event later this month.
The last time Murray State played in Hawai’i was in December of 1998, during Tevester Anderson’s first season as head coach, when the Racers took part in the Rainbow Classic. During that tournament, Murray State lost to Charlotte, beat Louisiana, and then lost to Florida State in overtime.
With these three games added to the schedule, five of Murray State’s 11 non-conference games have now been set. Here is what that schedule looks like to this point:
December 8 — vs. Southeast Missouri State
December 14 — at Western Kentucky
December 22 — at Diamond Head Classic
December 23 — at Diamond Head Classic
December 25 — at Diamond Head Classic
And after I gave you grief about having to travel on Christmas, my wife walks in my office and says “we should go to the tournament in Hawaii.”
Is there any other schedule updates ?
