Murray State beat SIUE, 104-60, in the Racers’ season-opener on Thursday night. Here’s what you need to know:
With the win, the Racers improve to 1-0 on the season. It’s the first time since 2018 that Murray State opened the year with a win over a Division I team.
Murray State’s 104 points were the most scored in the first game of the season in program history.
Katelyn Young recorded the 42nd double-double of her career with 23 points and ten rebounds.
The Racers made 14-of-34 three-pointers (41.2%) in the game. In records dating back to 2002-03, it’s the first time Murray State has shot that high of a percentage in a game with at least 34 three-point attempts.
Murray State dished out assists on 28 of their 38 made field goals, while turning the ball over just 12 times.
The Racers turned 27 SIUE turnovers into 27 points.
Murray State returns to action Tuesday when they host Southern Indiana.
