Racers still waiting on word on Thomas
WBB: The sophomore forward injured her right leg Friday against Indiana State
Everyone around the Murray State women’s basketball program is holding their collective breath about the immediate future and health of Destiny Thomas. After she went up for a rebound Friday night against Indiana State, the sophomore forward collapsed to the floor grabbing her right knee. Thomas didn’t play Sunday against Evansville, and Murray State Head Coach Rechelle Turner says, while they’re hoping for the best, they don’t have a definitive answer yet about the diagnosis.
“She saw the team doctor this morning,” Turner said. “Hopefully, the MRI is tomorrow or Wednesday. We don't want to speculate on anything until that happens, but they're trying to get that taken care of as soon as possible.”
Thomas has been a key piece to Murray State’s interior rotation this season. In 17 games this year, Thomas is averaging 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Her 21 steals are second on the team behind only Haven Ford.
Murray State won’t play until Saturday when they travel to Nashville to take on Belmont.
Prayers continued for this Racer!!!
