Report: UIC hires Ehsan as head coach
MBB: Ehsan spent the last three seasons as a Stanford assistant coach
UIC has found their men’s basketball coach. Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman is reporting the school is set to hire Rob Ehsan to lead the Flames’ program.
Ehsan will replace Luke Yaklich, who was fired earlier this month after four seasons at UIC.
After starting his coaching career on Maryland’s staff, Ehsan worked as an assistant at Virginia Tech and UAB. In 2016, Ehsan was promoted at UAB as he earned his first head coaching job. In four years leading the Blazers, Ehsan compiled a 76-57 overall record, while going 38-34 in Conference USA. Ehsan was let go after the 2019-20 season. After sitting out one year, Ehsan spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Stanford.
Ehsan will take over a UIC program entering its third year in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Flames haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament since the 2003-04 season.
