Tenner makes it official with Murray State
MBB: The freshman from Memphis played at West Virginia last season

Murray State Head Coach Ryan Miller has now gotten three players out of the transfer portal after the school Miller has signed freshman point guard KJ Tenner, who played last season at West Virginia.
"KJ has a remarkable combination of impressive ball handling, shooting and feel for the game," Miller said in a statement. "All of these attributes combined with his quickness at the point guard position is an important piece to our team. He has a tremendous future ahead of him as he joins our program and we're very happy that he's decided to be a Murray State Racer."
Tenner is a 6’0 guard from Memphis, who played his prep basketball at Cordova High School. In 30 games with WVU last season, he averaged 13.2 minutes, 2.4 points, 1.1 assists and 0.4 turnovers per game.
Tenner had a career-high 10 points in West Virginia’s season-opening win over Robert Morris, where he knocked down both of his three-point attempts.
For the season, Tenner shot 35.0% from the floor and 15.4% (4-for-26) from three-point range. He also had 32 assists against just 12 turnovers.
Coming out of high school, Tenner won Mr. Basketball in Tennessee’s Class 4A after averaging 21 points per game. It took him just 42 varsity games to reach 1,000 career points, which was the fastest in Cordova High School history.
With Tenner’s signing, Murray State now has three players who are set to be on next year’s roster:
KJ Tenner (6’0 sophomore guard)
Mason Miller (6’9 senior guard)
Fredrick King (6’9 senior forward)
Here are the seven players who could return to the Racers next year, but have yet to make anything official:
