Wagler says he's nearing decision
MBB: The Class of 2025 recruit took an official visit to Murray three weeks ago
Keaton Wagler tells 247Sports that he could make his college choice official at some point in the next week.
The 4-star guard in the recruiting class of 2025 visited Murray State back in August. He’s already taken visits to Colorado State, Drake, Southern Illinois and Minnesota. He is reportedly visiting Illinois this weekend.
Last season, the 6’6 guard led Shawnee Mission Northwest High School to an undefeated season and their first-ever Kansas state championship. Wagler averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists while knocking down half of his three-point attempts. You can watch highlights from his junior season here.
In talking with 247Sports, Wagler explained what he liked most about Murray State. "How much the coaches are excited about me (stood out),” Wagler said. “They really think I can play early as a freshman and have impact minutes."
After his visit to Illinois, Wagler said we may not need to wait long for his decision to be made.
"I want to make a decision sometime that week after my Illinois visit," Wagler told 247Sports. "Some factors will be how the coaches work together and how bought in they are to the program. Also, how well I will fit in, and lastly if I see myself having a chance to make an early impact as a freshman and competing for minutes."
Murray State already has two commitments for the Class of 2025. Tristian Ford and Kaden Rickard have both already publicly announced they plan to play their college basketball for the Racers.
