Williams playing with OKC Summer League team
MBB: The 2022 OVC Player of the Year will get his chance to impress the Thunder
KJ Williams, who was the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year at Murray State, announced on Instagram today that he has signed a free agent deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team has not yet publicly released any details on his deal.
Williams spent his first four collegiate seasons at Murray State, and was part of a pair of NCAA Tournament wins in 2019 and 2022. He averaged 18.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in 2022 as he earned Player of the Year honors.
Last season, he followed Matt McMahon to LSU. Williams averaged 17.7 points and 7.7 rebounds on his way to being named to the All-SEC 2nd Team.
Oklahoma City’s Summer League team will play in Salt Lake City July 3rd-6th, and then in Las Vegas from July 7th-17th. Teams don’t necessarily take the same roster to both locations, so it’s unclear where Williams will play this summer.
