Wood on Mid-Major All-American watch list
MBB: Bracketeer.org is spotlighting players from the non-power conferences
Bracketeer.org has listed Murray State senior guard JaCobi Wood as one of 68 players nationally on the site’s inaugural ‘Non-Power Conference All-American’ watch list. Scheduling guru Rocco Miller compiled the list with “input from various coaches, industry journalists, and industry peers throughout the offseason.”
Wood, who is entering his third season at Murray State, is coming off a season where he averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He needs 260 points this season to become the 48th player in Murray State history to score 1,000 career points.
The 22 conferences Miller is using to give out this award are: America East, ASUN, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, CAA, Conference USA, Horizon League, Ivy League, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, MVC, NEC, OVC, Patriot League, SoCon, Southland, SWAC, Summit League, Sun Belt and WAC. A midseason watch list will be released in early January, if not before. Bracketeer.org’s final All-American Awards will be given out in late March.
Wood picked up a spot on the Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team. He has started all 64 games for the Racers in the last two seasons. He’ll lead a Murray State team that was picked third in the Valley’s preseason poll.
Murray State will open their 100th season of basketball on Monday when they host Bethel.
