Murray State’s Katelyn Young is one of 20 players in the country on the Watch List for the 2024-25 Lisa Leslie Award. Named after the Naismith Hall of Famer, the award is given to the nation’s best center. Stanford’s Cameron Brink won the Leslie Award last season.
Young is returning to Murray State for her fifth and final season in 2024-25. Last year, during the Racers’ NIT game at Southern Mississippi, Young became Murray State’s all-time leading scorer. She currently sits with 2,312 career points, and is one of fewer than 80 players in Division I history to rack up more than 2,300 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career.
In their exhibition game on Wednesday against Bethel, Young racked up 20 points and 11 rebounds in Murray State’s 98-66 win. The Racers will open the regular season next Thursday when they host SIUE.
